Clearstream joins Eurosystem Pontes testing ahead of launch

Clearstream will participate in the Eurosystem鈥檚 Pontes testing programme to support the introduction of distributed ledger technology (DLT)-based settlement in central bank money, in line with the European Central Bank鈥檚 testing and certification framework.
The company will engage in a series of end-to-end tests ahead of the Pontes launch, planned for 21 September 2026.
These activities are designed to validate settlement processes, connectivity, and operational readiness within the Pontes ecosystem.
As part of the initiative, Clearstream is preparing to begin concrete testing with various market partners, while also giving its clients the ability to test its Pontes platform.
The joint testing programme will focus on demonstrating interoperability between market infrastructures and validating delivery-versus-payment settlement in central bank money.
Clearstream鈥檚 involvement builds on previous DLT initiatives, following its contribution to the Eurosystem鈥檚 exploratory work regarding wholesale central bank money settlement for DLT-based transactions.
The initiative marks a step forward in strengthening interoperability across market infrastructures, while laying the groundwork for a harmonised European digital capital market, the firm says.
