Euroclear Bank has been chosen as an alternative central securities depository (CSD) for eligible Italian government bond trades executed on MTS markets.

The designation applies to trades executed on the MTS Italy Cash, MTS Italy Repo, and E-Bond Market (EBM) platforms.

The new access point allows clearing members and dealers to settle eligible central counterparty (CCP)-cleared trades alongside their broader European fixed income activity.

According to an online statement made by the firm, the solution is intended to help market participants consolidate activity within a single settlement hub, facilitating easier collateral movement and simplifying post-trade operations.

The company also stated that the development provides additional choice for market participants and represents a step toward integrated European capital markets.

Implementation timelines for the service will depend on coordinated operational readiness across relevant market participants and infrastructure providers.
