OCC average daily loan volumes rise 28.8% YoY for July

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) has reported a 28.8 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in average daily loan value for securities lending trades, generating US$234.2 billion for July.
Total securities lending transactions cleared on the OCC platform for the same month decreased 6.5 per cent YoY to 322,702.
In terms of all futures and options cleared through the organisation, the total volume was up 25.7 per cent YoY to 1.5 billion contracts for July.
OCC also experienced a 4.9 per cent YoY increase in equity options contracts for the month to 748.2 million, and a 33.6 per cent YoY rise in index options contracts to 133.8 million.
ETF options volumes increased 59.1 per cent YoY to 668.4 million, while futures contracts were up by 18.3 per cent YoY to 4.6 million.
Mike Hansen, head of clearing and settlement services at OCC, states: 鈥淚n July, ETF and index options posted double-digit growth, and our clearing and settlement operations processed these rising volumes seamlessly across the board.
鈥淭his broad-based growth was driven by investors using these products to express market views and manage everyday risk which reflects the strength and scalability of OCC鈥檚 post-trade infrastructure that safeguards market integrity.鈥
